ITINERARY
Day 1 - TUESDAY - Guatemala Airport - La Antigua
Reception at the airport, assistance and transfer to the hotel in La Antigua. Overnight at Hotel Camino Real Antigua.
Day 2 | WEDNESDAY - La Antigua - La Fototeca CIRMA - San Antonio - Santa Catarina - Lake Atitlán
Breakfast. In the morning transfer to the CIRMA Photo Library, where we will have a presentation on the history of photography in Guatemala given by this institution. Then, presentation of the photographer who will accompany us during the trip, with whom we will review the different technical levels and photographic equipment of each participant, we will talk about the objectives of the trip and the areas of the country we will visit. After that, accompanied by the photographer and our guide, we will head inland to Lake Atitlan, which Huxley said was the most beautiful lake in the world, with its three volcanoes and twelve indigenous villages. In the afternoon light, we will approach the towns of Santa Catarina and San Antonio Palopó. Overnight at Hotel Villa Santa Catarina.
Day 3 | THURSDAY - Lake Atitlán - Chichicastenango - Guatemala
Breakfast. In the morning, we will go to the town of Chichicastenango, where every Thursday one of the most important and colorful indigenous markets in Latin America is held. In the afternoon we will return to Guatemala City. Overnight at Hotel Barceló.
Day 4 | FRIDAY - Guatemala City - Copán
Breakfast. During the day, we will cross the Honduran border to visit Copan, which holds stelae, pyramids, ball games and burial sites unique in the Mayan World. Overnight at Hotel Marina Copan.
Day 5 |SATURDAY - Copán - Quiriguá - Izabal Area
Breakfast. From Copan we will head to the Guatemalan Caribbean. On the way, we will visit the archaeological center of Quiriguá, which preserves some of the best stelae erected by the Mayas. In the afternoon, we will arrive in the Izabal area, one of the natural wonders of Guatemala. Overnight at Hotel Villa Caribe.
Day 6 | SUNDAY - Izabal Area - Río Dulce - Petén
Breakfast. In the morning, we will take a boat trip on the Río Dulce, a place of exceptional ecological richness. After navigation we will continue to the jungle of Peten. Overnight at Hotel Villa Maya.
Day 7 | MONDAY - Petén - Tikal - La Antigua
Breakfast. Today we will visit the Mayan city of Tikal, the jewel of the classic Mayan World. Lunch and transfer to Flores airport to take a flight to Guatemala. Reception and transfer to La Antigua. Overnight at Hotel Camino Real Antigua.
Day 8 | TUESDAY - La Antigua
Breakfast. We will spend the day visiting La Antigua, a wonderful colonial city declared Cultural Heritage of Humanity. We will visit its main monuments, the Cathedral, the churches of San Francisco and La Merced, we will take advantage of the best hours of light to take pictures of the city. At the end of the visit, the participants will hand in five photographs taken during the trip, one photograph for each subject. Rest of the day at leisure to enjoy this beautiful city. In the evening, farewell dinner for the group, exhibition of the photographs, discussion and award for the best photograph in each category. Overnight at Hotel Camino Real Antigua.
Day 9 | WEDNESDAY - La Antigua - Guatemala Airport
Breakfast. Transfer to Guatemala City airport. End of our services.
