Day 1. Arrival in San José, Costa Rica

Reception at International Airport.

Welcome to San José, Costa Rica We'll meet at the airport and take you to your hotel. Once in the capital, you can visit theatres, museums and beautiful parks or simply enjoy in a cafeteria and accompanied by a cup of Costa Rican coffee while watching the everyday life of the "Ticos".

San Jose City Tour

This tour shows you the culture and history of Costa Rica through visits to museums and historical sites in the city of San José. On this tour we will visit sites of historical interest such as the National Theatre, a patrio monument built by Costa Rican hands in 1897 also known as “The Jewel of San Jose”, the museum of Costa Ricana gold (site of great archaeological interest), the Central Market, which is Cultural Heritage because it is a site of convergence of the identity of the Costa rican being and its traditions. In addition, you will be able to admire and acquire souvenirs and some local crafts and also the Metropolitan Cathedral. In addition to many stops at several points of equal importance in the city, such as, for example: The University of Costa Rica, old train station, the national liquor factory, Supreme Election Court, Legislative Assembly, the metal building, parks, finally, an introduction to our capital city, as well as information on topics of great relevance including economy, culture, politics, religion, and current times in general. We will also visit an art gallery, where you can get beautiful souvenirs to take home.

Day 2. San Jose – Poas Volcano and Coffee Tour in Doka

Breakfast and accommodation at the chosen hotel in San José.

Poas Volcano Excursion and Coffee Tour – Doka State. (half day).

As we leave the city we can see the contrast of the urban way of life with the tranquility that provides a rural life cemented in agricultural production and mainly in the cultivation of coffee, although we will also find later plantations of beetles, flowers, strawberries and dairy.

On arrival at the centenary Doka Estate Coffee Benefit, we will have a typical breakfast and then immediately start with the Café Tour. In this real coffee plantation we will learn the ancient techniques used by experts to produce one of the best coffee in Costa Rica. After the visit, we will continue our journey to the Poás Volcano, where we can reach its main crater with additional trails to learn about the different ecosystems in this unique and protected national park.

The volcano's departure allows us to be back at about 2 p.m. at your hotel in San José.

Day 3. San Jose – Irazú Volcano, Orosí Valley and Lankester Gardens

Excursion to Volcano Irazú, Orosí Valley & Lankester Gardens with lunch (full day)

This colossus is the highest volcano in the territory with a height of 3,432 metres (11,000 feet) above sea level, whose final eruptive phase spans the period from 1963 to 1965 with strong emissions of gas and ash that were perceived throughout the country. On a sunny and clear day, both the Atlantic and the Pacific oceans can be observed.

After visiting the volcano, we will descend towards the city of Carthage, the former capital of Costa Rica established in 1563 by the conqueror Juan Vázquez de Coronado, where a stop is made at the Basilica of the Virgin of the Angels, a place of pilgrimage of many faithful, which is a tradition in force since 1635.

The next stop is the Lankester Botanical Garden, a research center of the University of Costa Rica, created for the protection and preservation of more than 800 species of orchids, as well as other plant species. In this place a guided tour is made knowing the different sections, such as bromelias, cactus, heliconias, palm trees, among others.

Day 4. San José – Volcán Arenal & Termales Baldí

Excursion to the Arenal Volcano with Baldí thermal waters with lunch and dinner. (full day)

At the agreed time we will head towards the impressive Arenal Volcano which is a magnificent natural wonder located in La Fortuna de San Carlos, offering many tourists the opportunity to witness volcanic activity, such as the columns of white smoke and ash emanating from the crater in conical form.

It is important to mention that at this time the volcano is in relative calm, since 1968 where it experienced its largest eruption.

To be able to get to this wonder of nature we move to the northern area of the country, being inevitable to make a short stop in the famous village of Sarchí, so known internationally for its hardworking craftsmen that give Sarchi renown as The Cradle of the Costarricense Craftsman.

Following our journey we will pass through plantations of various agricultural products, ornamental plants, livestock farms, to get to the village of La Fortuna to have lunch in a cosy restaurant just in front of the volcano. This excellent location allows us from a very early age, to have the best view waiting for the volcano to please visitors.

We will rest in one of the best thermal waters in the area, where an optional massage or treatment can be performed booked in advance.

To close with gold brooch, an excellent dinner will be served, always with the best view of the Arenal Volcano. After dinner we start the direct return to the city of San José.

Day 5. San Jose – Tour to Tortuga Island

Discover the magic of a dream island, the island of Turtles. Located in the Gulf of Nicoya, 12 nautical miles from Puntarenas, Tortuga Island (called by the indigenous Tolinga) has an area of 120 hectares and isined as a protected forest; which has the Blue Ecological Flag for more than five years. This distinction is awarded to beaches in our country that have their waters free from pollution. Due to its geographical characteristics, its waters are turquoise-tone and are ideal for swimming. Our catamaran has three different environments for your enjoyment: the main living room with air conditioning, bar section and dressing rooms; another area is the proa with a wonderful view of all the landscapes where we will sail; and, our upper deck, air conditioned area for your rest; in which, you can enjoy a spacious jacuzzi.
